At Mobility Field Day 8 in Silicon Valley, I was privileged to hear a presentation from Ventev. Previously, I hadn’t worked with Ventev. I only knew of them because of their AP-on-a-Stick Batteries and their TENs Talk at WLPC Phoenix 2022 . Know so little about what they do, I was excited to hear more.
I had no idea of the size of their portfolio. I entered MFD8 thinking of asking questions about their battery pack. Maybe I could use it to build a CBRS-on-a-stick setup for building out a network or for a future post test that I ran recently. Then I was blown away to learn about applications for their products for CBRS beyond that simple battery pack.
Private Cellular Self Contained Tower
Jared VanAllen, a fellow Utahn, began by discussing their Solar and Power solutions for towers and sites. These would be very useful for building out a Private Cellular site. There are many vendors looking to build tower sites. I found Ventev’s solution to be informative and straight to the point. I’m very interested to explore these solutions more for our network as we continue our build out.
Currently, we are building our network by placing radios on top of school and government buildings. I’ve always envisioned that a true build out would require some remote tower sites like the ones that Ventev showcased at MFD8.
The other application for CBRS is their outdoor enclosures. The extra equipment beyond the radios needs to be stored in something. They have enclosures to cover all applications.
I was very impressed by the rest of their presentation. I might look at some of their subflooring mounting options for future Wifi projects. All-in-all I was very impressed by Ventev’s solutions. The surprise that their solutions would fit my current projects was a breath of fresh air.
